Yotsume Toji — 4 Hole Standard

The most common and beginner-friendly stab binding pattern.
Features four holes in a straight vertical line and forms the foundation for many other designs. Clean, strong, and simple.

Koki Toji — Noble Binding (6 Hole)

Based on the 4-hole pattern, with two additional corner holes for extra strength and visual detail. Reinforces the head and tail of the spine and creates a more decorative finish.

Asa-no-ha — Hemp Leaf

A traditional decorative pattern using two staggered rows of holes who want reliable, clean hole spacing and accurate stitch layouts — whether you are just starting or expanding your binding pattern library.to create a zigzag leaf effect. Very popular for journals and artistic bindings.

Kikkō Toji — Tortoise Shell

How to Print

For correct hole placement:

  1. Print at 100% scale

  2. Turn OFF “fit to page” or resizing

  3. Choose the correct paper size (A4 or A5)

  4. Align template to the spine edge

  5. Punch through marked holes with an awl or needle
